Species: Reeves Muntjac Deer

Name: Whisper

Status: Muntjac deer are the oldest of all known deer and are therefore prehistoric. They retain characteristics which have since disappeared in our own native species of deer. Muntjacs have stood the test of time since their beginnings between 15 and 35 Million years ago. They continue to thrive both in the wild and captivity.

Distribution: South-East Asia, India, South-East China and Taiwan.

Food: Whisper loves to eat alfalfa, grass, hay, rolled oats, sweet feed, fruits and lots of vegetables.

Habitat: Muntjac will readily occupy, colonize and utilize any area in which an abundance of thick cover and food is present.

Lifespan: 8 years in the wild, 11-12 years in captivity.
